About Me
in the pottery of the monastery where he was a monk. He had no experience of pottery and had to teach himself over the next eleven years, when he developed his own range of high-fired stoneware, made his own glazes and even built a large kiln.
He left the monastery in the early eighties and eventually ran a busy workshop supplying garden centres with pots for plants and flowers. In 1989 he moved to Devon to work with people with learning difficulties making simple clay forms adapted to their abilities, while still making a few pots in his own small workshop at home. He found this job most fulfilling and stayed there for 18 years until retirement when he spent more time in his own workshop.
He has always made pots for use, selling at affordable prices so people can enjoy using them, while also making the more ambitious decorative wares for the collector. He has also made clay sculptures to order as well as for the sheer joy of it.
